We report an extremely rare case of abdominal papular zosteriform cutaneous metastases from endometrial adenocarcinoma. A 78-year-old woman had previously undergone hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy via lower midline laparotomy for FIGO stage IIIC endometrial adenocarcinoma. Postoperative therapy comprised systemic multidrug chemotherapy, radiotherapy (50 Gy), and transvaginal brachytherapy (25 Gy). Two years later, multiple red indurated papules developed in a dermatomal zosteriform distribution on the anterior abdominal wall at level T10–T12 bilaterally; the most abundant changes were near the laparotomy scar. These were identified when the patient presented to the Emergency Room with mechanical bowel obstruction and ascites (Fig. 1). Excisional biopsy showed circular islands of atypical glandular epithelial cells infiltrating the superficial and deep dermis, consistentwithmetastatic adenocarcinoma. The incidence of cutaneous metastases has increased from 2.7% in 1969 to 10% in recent years, due in part to a growing awareness of this condition, in part to a rise in cancer rates, and in part to longer survival times allowing skin metastases an opportunity to develop [1]. There are several morphologic types, including macules, papules, nodules, indurated plaques, purpuric plaques mimicking vasculitis, discoid lesions, and tumor nodes with telangiectasia. Cutaneous metastases of the abdominal wall are extremely rare. There are two forms. One is post surgical and can be incisional, portsite (trochar-site), or drain-site metastases due to inoculation and direct spread of the tumor, with fair survival measured in years after complete excision. The other form is due to natural history of the disease, usually indicating end-stage disease with limited survival. Often, the regions of cutaneous metastases coincide with the field of previous radiation therapy, which obliterates small lymphatic channels and thus facilitates the implantation of tumor cells. The incidence of skin metastases in endometrial carcinoma is unknown,

Zosteriform Skin Metastases from Breast Cancer
Metastatic skin cancer is a rare complication of internal malignancies. Patients who develop cutaneous metastases rarely present with a zosteriform distribution. Herein, we describe a 65-year-old woman with a prior history of breast cancer in whom zosteriform metastases developed along her left T8-9 abdominal dermatomes.
متن کاملZosteriform cutaneous metastases arising from adenocarcinoma of the colon: diagnostic smear cytology from cutaneous lesions.
Sir, Cutaneous metastases arising from internal malignancy are uncommon, and a zosteriform pattern is very rare. We report a case of colonic adenocarcinoma metastasizing to the left lower extremity in a zosteriform pattern. No herpetic cytopathic changes were noted, and cohesive malignant cells in the papulo-vesicular lesions were observed on a Tzanck smear. Mucin production from tumour cells i...
متن کاملCutaneous Metastases of the Synchronous Primary Endometrial and Bilateral Ovarian Cancer: An Infrequent Presentation and Literature Review
There are limited data about the cutaneous metastases of gynecological malignancies in the literature. Based on this limited number of studies, cutaneous metastases from gynecological malignancies are uncommon occurrences. Cutaneous metastases from the synchronous endometrioid carcinoma of the uterine corpus and bilateral ovaries arising from endometriosis are extremely rare. Herein, we report ...
متن کاملLiterature meta-analysis of zosteriform cutaneous metastases from melanoma and a clinico-histopathological report from India
Cutaneous metastases in patients with malignant tumours are an important clue to tumour progression or even the first manifestation of malignancy. Among the various topographic patterns of cutaneous metastasis, the zosteriform pattern of metastasis is rare, and very few cases have been published. Various theories have been proposed for this zosteriform pattern of metastases, but none have been ...
متن کاملExtensive cutaneous metastases from colonic adenocarcinoma.
Dear Editor, Cutaneous metastases of adenocarcinoma are uncommon but important. The occurrence of cutaneous metastases typically signifi es widespread disease with poor prognosis. Such metastases usually occur as an isolated and rapidly growing mobile nodule unrelated topographically to the primary tumour site.1 We report a case of metastatic colonic adenocarcinoma with unusual cutaneous presen...
